Once you've got your Sentry Gun built, you'll want to upgrade it quickly. It takes 4 seconds to build your Sentry Gun, during which time you won't be able to move or shoot, so if you're building outside your base you might need someone to guard you. If there's no option 2 to build a Sentry Gun, that means you don't have enough metal, so go get some more from the nearest Resupply Room.
